# Picaroon – Interactive Art by Rebecca Gischel > Picaroon is the artist name of Munich-based installation artist Rebecca Gischel (born 1989). She creates interactive light, sound, and kinetic art installations since 2013. She also works in abstract painting. ## About Rebecca Gischel studied Interaction Design (MA) at Edinburgh Napier University, Scotland, graduating in 2013. After exhibiting her first interactive installation "Global Sounds" at the Ars Electronica Festival 2013, she founded Picaroon and pursued a full-time career as an installation artist. She is based in Munich, Germany. The name Picaroon [ˌpɪkəˈruːn] is an archaic English word meaning "adventurer", reflecting the collaborative and interdisciplinary nature of her work.
